Luigi Scazzieri
European security and defence, transatlantic relations, EU-UK relations and Italy's relationship with the EU
Luigi Scazzieri is assistant director at the CER. His research focuses on European security and defence and EU foreign and neighbourhood policy. Luigi regularly briefs government officials and corporate leaders on issues relating to European security and defence. He has given oral evidence to the British House of Common and the House of Lords and has contributed opinion pieces on European foreign policy and European politics to outlets such as The Guardian, Project Syndicate, CNN and The Times.
Luigi holds a PhD in European Politics from King's College London, MA degrees from the LSE and King's College London and a BA from the University of Cambridge. Before joining the CER in 2016, he carried out research at the UK in a Changing Europe Initiative at King's College London, the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels and the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Bologna.
