Free movement curbs could be relaxed under EU reset
Charles Grant, the director of the Centre for European Reform, said the EU had clear areas of interest in a reformed Brexit deal with the UK.
“There are at least three areas where the EU is looking for movement from the new government,” he said.
“The first is on youth mobility, the second is on Erasmus and the third is on a long term deal on fishing rights. For its part Labour has made clear it is looking for new rules around mutually recognising qualification certification bodies and a veterinary deal to ease checks of goods crossing the Channel. Clearly to get a deal both sides are going to have to compromise.”
